Jacqui O’Reilly
Jacqui O’Reilly is a Pākehā artist, researcher and musician from Aotearoa New Zealand, now based in Sydney Australia, on the unceded land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. Jacqui is interested in the creative act as acknowledgement of what has happened in the past and what could happen in the future through embodiment within the more-than-human world. Her practice led research explores relations between people, place, media and perception through the making of installation and performance works, the sculpting of sound and the altering of moving image. Jacqui’s work is founded in an exploration of decolonisation methodology as a learning process, to encompass the bicultural history and current day relations between Māori and the settler coloniser in her homeland. She holds a BA Media Arts (Honours) from UNSW Art, Design & Architecture, Sydney Australia.
