Maria Moles

Maria Moles is a drummer/producer/educator based in Melbourne, Australia. Since completing a Bachelor of Music Performance (Improvisation) from the Victorian College of Arts in 2013, Maria has dedicated her time to performing experimental improvised music and playing with Melbourne art rock band ‘Jaala’.

Maria’s solo project explores the electronic manipulation of rhythmic structures played on the drum set, focusing on blending both acoustic and electronic instruments and objects. The aim is to transcend the listener by creating a dense sound world that uses repetitive sustained melodies coupled with scattered rhythms.

In 2015, Maria toured Europe with Melbourne guitarist Adam Halliwell, performing at various venues/festivals throughout France, Italy and Germany. In the same year her Melbourne art rock band Jaala supported grammy nominated future soul band ‘Hiatus Kaiyote’ for their National tour of ‘Choose Your Weapon’.
